Douglas Cochrane, System Performance Architect, Harris County Texas
Upon his retirement from the State of Indiana with 39 years all in public safety communications, Doug entered a new venture in Harris County Texas, starting as the System Architect for the Texas Wide Radio Network (TxWARN).
His position of System Performance Architect brings in all the experience that he has in the prior 39 years in Indiana as a public safety communications subject matter expert. This system is a P25 Motorola 2022.1 system. It has sites in 36 counties and coverage in 61 counties in East and Southeast Texas. This system started growing once it was a P25 system, upgraded from a SmartZone system for Harris County. This is a three zone, 202 site phase 2 P25 system. Zones 1 and 2 make up the Texas Wide Area Radio Network (TxWARN) and the third zone is for the City of Houston.
Doug is active in FPIC and the TR-8 P25 Standards Committee, he also serves as the Vice Chair of the Region 51 Regional Planning Committee and the SE Texas MTUG Chapter President.
