Tami Maxwell Barron, President and CEO, Southern Linc
Tami Maxwell Barron joined Southern Linc as Chief Executive Officer and President in January 2015. Southern Linc is a subsidiary of Southern Company, America's premier energy company, providing clean, safe, reliable and affordable energy through electric utilities in four states, natural gas distribution utilities in seven states, a competitive generation company serving wholesale customers across America and a nationally recognized provider of customized energy solutions, as well as fiber optics and wireless communications. Southern Linc provides highly reliable wireless communications for mission critical applications within Southern Company as well as to commercial customers in the Southeast.
Prior to her CEO post, Barron served as Southern Company’s Vice President of Supply Chain. Additional experience includes 30 years in various positions within the sales, marketing and electric operations areas of other Southern Company subsidiaries. In one of those roles, she was responsible for Southern Company’s strategic initiative to develop and deploy a modern Smart Grid for the company’s electric distribution system. This included securing the Smart Grid Incentive Grants issued by the Department of Energy.
Barron currently serves on the executive board of the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association as well as the Board of Directors for the Competitive Carriers of America. She previously served on the boards of Atlanta Habitat for Humanity, Cystic Fibrosis of Georgia, United Way, Cartersville Chamber of Commerce and the Columbus Symphony.
Barron holds a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Georgia, a Master’s in Business Administration from Columbus State University, and is a graduate of the Goizueta Business School Executive Program.
