Dr. Roy Anderson is the Emergency Manager for the Washoe County School District (WCSD) since 2018. WCSD has approximately 62,000 students and 9,000 employees in over 110 schools and district buildings. Prior to his work in WCSD, Dr. Anderson worked in the emergency management office of the Clark County School District (CCSD) for twelve and a half years. Dr. Anderson obtained a Doctor of Emergency Management in 2024 from Capella University and his MBA from the University of Phoenix in 2006. During his career in emergency management at the K-12 school level, Dr. Anderson has responded to over a hundred incidents at schools, including the largest mercury decontamination of a school in the United States. During the 1 October mass shooting incident in Las Vegas in 2017, Dr. Anderson served as the CCSD liaison in the Multi-Agency Coordination Center and later within the Planning Section. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Anderson led the WCSD effort to open and operate multiple points of dispensing locations to vaccinate WCSD staff.
