Paul Allen, CEO, Advanced Aircraft Company
Paul has been a leader in the UAS community since he joined Insitu, Inc (a Boeing Company) in 2009. For the past year Paul has been in Business Development roles for Iris Automation and AgEagle where he led business development efforts focused on growing the top line, strategic initiatives, as well as facilitating relationships with the Federal Aviation Administration and other regulatory efforts (Integration Pilot Program/Beyond and AUVSI Advocacy Committee participation).
Prior to that Paul wore many hats during his ten plus years at Insitu. Initially he played an integral role in building the Sustainment Operations division of the company as its first Business Manager. Subsequent roles included his time as the Director of International Operations in Global Operations where he was responsible for creating and implementing strategies pertaining to international tax and industrial participation. His efforts in that capacity served to increase Insitu’s awareness and understanding of international business requirements.
Paul then served as Insitu’s Vice President of Business Development & Marketing, where he was responsible for managing the Business Development division to achieve enterprise short-term order targets and develop new business to realize long-term revenue targets. A noteworthy accomplishment as Vice President was the creation and successful execution of a global diversification and growth strategy resulting in making
ScanEagle the gold standard in UAV’s with many of the United States allies around the world.
After his success in Business Development Paul created and managed Insitu’s Commercial Program Office where he oversaw three historic UAS firsts: Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) UAS operations in Denmark, the first UAS operations in support of fire suppression efforts at the Paradise Fire in Washington State and BVLOS operations in the continental United States for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railways in New Mexico. The historically significant ScanEagle aircraft that flew for BNSF now resides in the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum as the cornerstone for their new Unmanned exhibit (https://airandspace.si.edu/collection-objects/insitu-scaneagle-x200/nasm_A20160110000).
Paul also took on the task of integrating UAS into Humanitarian Aid/Disaster Relief operations. To that end he collaborated with numerous state and federal Fire Suppression agencies to integrate UAS into wildland fire suppression operations resulting in over 450 operational flight hours over multiple fires and providing critical real-time information about fire location, intensity, and movement (https://kval.com/outdoors/the-best-friend-a-firefighter-could-have-how-drones-help-battle-oregon-wildfires).
Prior to joining Insitu, Paul compiled more than 10 years of experience in various sales and sales management roles, including managing a team of professionals at Precision Castparts Corporation, a leading manufacturer of titanium and super-alloy steel components.
Paul earned his Master of Business Administration from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and received the Jack Hill Award for Outstanding MBA Students.
In his personal time, Paul enjoys spending time with his family, watching Formula 1 racing, playing and coaching basketball, and driving his 1969 Buick Skylark.
