Jon Allen, Director, Public Safety Subscriber Services, State of Indiana
Jon Allen, Director of Subscriber Services for Indiana’s Integrated Public Safety Commission, has spent more than 10 years with the agency, promoting interoperable communications between local, state and federal first responders. In this role, Allen oversees customer service for the statewide 700/800 MHz public safety communication system and the statewide public safety shared data system. These systems provide interoperable voice and data communications for nearly 100,000 local, state and federal first responders in all 92 Indiana counties. Allen also plays an integral role in the deployment of the Nationwide Public Safety Broadband Network (FirstNet) in the State of Indiana.
An admitted “communications nerd,” Allen is involved in many aspects of emergency response and Communications Unit (COMU) positions. He serves as the Administrative Chief for Pipe Creek Township Volunteer Fire Department, where he is responsible for overseeing daily operations. He is also an avid amateur radio operator.
Prior to joining the Integrated Public Safety Commission, Allen served as a 911 Dispatcher for multiple agencies. He credits these years of service for fueling his passion for public safety communications and user advocacy.
