When FirstNet was first announced in 2012, many in the industry believed that the death of LMR was imminent, with agencies likely opting for ubiquitous broadband service over antiquated and costly LMR systems. Twelve years later, and LMR systems have cemented themselves, even now that public safety broadband networks are widely available.

But, that isn't to say that broadband hasn't played a role in voice communications. In fact, integration between LMR and broadband systems is expanding year over year, bringing new capabilities and features that leverage the best of what both technologies have to offer.

This session will review how this integration is taking place, and how its benefiting the first responder community.

Takeaway

1. How integration of LMR and broadband has evolved

2. Current and future vendor offerings for LMR and broadband integration

3. Interoperability benefits through broadband integration

4. Projections for the future for voice communications
