Following her Keynote Address, head over to the Critical Communications Spotlight Theater to hear Sandi Stroud along with Budge Currier provide a sneak preview of the NG911 changes that are coming to a vote shortly.

The FCC dropped an updated notice of proposed rules for NG911 earlier this month that will be voted on shortly after IWCE. The notice addresses 911 network reliability and diversity measures, as well as interoperability for NG911.

Proposed is an expansion of their definition of a covered service provider (CSP) to include GIS and all of the providers of NG911 Next Gen Core Services. They (including 1Spatial) will now require our offerings to be interoperable through the use of the very standards. Further, the requirements will be demonstrated via annual certification. Budge Currier is the chair of the NG911 interoperability Task Force who has a preview of a framework designed for how this will be done.

This is a very exciting development that the very standard the FCC is now going to mandate to any NGCS provider.
