First Responders face challenges daily during routine, emergency and mutual aid events where communications are essential. Building the skillset to achieve successful resolution to such challenges is paramount, and it requires the infrastructure and the people to make that happen. Technology – especially in communications – is part of the backbone of the solution. However, technology supports by the first responders who use it. It is important for first responders to be equipped with the knowledge they require about policy, procedures, agreements and training so that they can make sound, educated decisions about the communications they implement and how to use them. Due diligence during selection and deployment leads to positive solutions and the best path forward to meet mission requirements. This panel possesses real-life, hands-on experience with successful, proven solutions that have been fielded in operational deployments. Attendees can expect to learn from the experience and expertise of the panelists and take away valuable insights into how to meet their needs.
Takeaway
1) Learn how different public safety agencies have attained communications interoperability on local, regional and statewide levels.
2) Understand how these agencies have parlayed their LMR systems and extended coverage through the use of PoC (Push to Talk over Cellular).
3) Explore how existing LMR systems – even disparate systems – can be utilized to extend coverage through the integration of RoIP and wide area applications.
4) Discover how other communications resources (HF, PBX, PSTN, SIP, RTP) can be integrated to expand command and control and situational awareness.
5) Examine how the integration of IP backhaul to include terrestrial, satellite, LEO (such as One Web and Star Link) and satellite push to talk and LTE radios can greatly expand your communications tool box.
