Project 25 technology remains critically important to government and public safety users. With over 3300 systems on the air and 42 State-wide Networks, its continued evolution with new standards and capabilities will be relevant, even as public safety broadband networks continue to roll out. Get the latest update for P25 Standards completed and new Standards in development. See how ATIS/TIA standards work to enable LMR interworking with LTE.

Improved First Responder safety is possible through Group-Regrouping, allowing a dispatcher to create merged talk groups across multiple P25 systems for emergency response; to know where they are with GPS location on every PTT; and to know who they are with a new shared User ID alias capability. Harmonization of Emergency Call and Alarm cancel operation is underway.

Strong interest in Communications Security and Encryption is growing. See what's new in 2025 including: New P25 Link Layer Security Standards (Cyber Security for Control Channels and Unit IDs), Improved Key-fill Device interface to load radios, other KFDs, and Key management facilities, and Key sharing between different vendor Key Management Facilities.

New Technical Service Bulletins offer recommended radio specs to mitigate broad-band interference and accurate coverage predictions including In-Building applications.
