Not Just LMR Anymore: Making Critical Network Integrations Work
Donny Jackson (Editor, IWCE's Urgent Communications)
Pass Type: All Access
Track: Broadband, Interoperability
Format: Panel Session
Vault Recording: TBD
For decades, critical wireless communications were transmitted almost exclusively across dedicated, voice-centric land-mobile-radio (LMR) networks. LMR continues to be the go-to technology for mission-critical voice, but it is rarely deployed in stovepipe systems anymore. The value of data-centric broadband networks has become clear, supporting new functionality and often offloading tasks—from roll calls to location information—that previously generated considerable traffic on LMR networks.
As a result, an ever-increasing number of system specifications require LMR and broadband systems to be integrated, giving users unprecedented flexibility in the devices they use and networks they can leverage to communicate with their colleagues.
In this session, learn about the technologies that support such integrations and hear network operators share their experiences in making heterogenous systems effective in real-world environments.
