Memphis Light, Gas, & Water Division (MLGW) of the City of Memphis is the largest three service municipal utility in the United States. This presentation will review the process associated with surveying technologies available in the marketplace and developing a specification. The challenge of tendering, evaluating, and selecting proposals from various suppliers. And the implementation phase in a COVID, supply chain environment.
MLGW embarked on a program to replace its legacy, end of life analog trunking system with a state of the art digital trunking system. The scope of work includes replacing not only the radio infrastructure and user radios. It also includes replacing the legacy microwave and dispatch systems. In addition, a number of diagnostic tools and applications to drive and efficiency and safety have been implemented. The project kicked off in February of 2022 and will be completed in April of 2023.
A primary aim of the presentation is to share lessons learned in that other attendees may gain valuable insight as they pursue similar projects.
