This session will provide discussion on the requirements for several sectors of the Enterprise/Commercial market, with a perspective on how these technologies can be applied to meet their unique needs. It will cover some of the solutions already on the market and address the gaps that remain. It will also cover the challenges of applying PTToC/PTToIP (WiFi) to the Enterprise/Commercial markets where cost consideration, and other justifications are structured very differently than they are in public safety and other markets with critical life safety needs.
Over the past decade we have seen increased focus on bringing reliable (some may say Mission Critical), PTT functionality to cellular devices. This effort has primarily been aimed at public safety and the first responder markets.
During the same period, significant portions of the Enterprise/Commercial markets have moved away from traditional PTT (Land Mobile) solutions, and to Cellular and WiFi platforms using mostly data and some voice services. These users and are now finding the value of reintroducing PTT functionality to their mobile computing/communications solutions.
Now that the technology and services providing PTToC, PTToIP, and MCPTT have proven themselves, they are a perfect fit to create a truly Unified Communications platform, adding PTT and VoIP, and collaboration features to the data platforms already being applied to this market.
