Since the inception of land mobile radio networks, system operators have relied on the private and segmented nature of these networks to protect them from the world of malware and computer viruses. But, that's not the world we live in anymore.
Systems are more connected, more features are moving to the cloud, and the cyber threat from ransomware or foreign adversaries has never been higher. All of these factors has brought the awareness to how terribly unprepared LMR operators are to be able to mitigate cyber threats, identify them when they occur, respond accordingly, and restore networks if they have been compromised.
This session will review the current cybersecurity environment for LMR systems, identify the threats these systems face, and discuss what LMR system operators should be doing to protect their systems.
Takeaway
1. Factors that are contributing to increased cyber threats for LMR systems
2. The potential impact of different types of cyber attacks
3. Mitigation strategies system operators should be considering
4. Results from LMR penetration test case studies
