For the past two decades, IP-based next-generation 911 (NG911) has been a hot topic, but the conversation largely has been theoretical. Some 911 centers are using broadband applications, some were connected to an ESInet, and some had completed a GIS database, but NG911 experts indicated that no PSAPs were operating as a fully NG911 center.
