End-to-End Real-Time Native Multimedia Emergency Services

Fabricio Velez  (Sr Director Industry Standards & Technology Innovation, INdigital)

Location: N259

Date: Monday, March 17

Time: 9:00 am - 9:30 am

Track: First Responders

Topics: 911 & Alerts, Broadband, NG911

Format: Power Session

Vault Recording: TBD

The session will explore how to enable seamless IP-based multimedia emergency communications between citizens, public safety telecommunicators (PSTs), and first responders (FRs). It will present the network architecture and the current and future capabilities behind 4G/5G mobile broadband and NG9-1-1 networks, focusing on the requirements for devices, IP-based infrastructure networks, emergency communications centers (ECCs), and public safety applications to support new 9-1-1 capabilities beyond traditional voice calls, such as text, video, and data. This will enhance rapid, reliable, and more efficient responses by providing relevant incident information to PSTs and FRs.
The session will highlight the importance of global standards and collaboration among stakeholders, including device manufacturers, mobile broadband network operators, public safety application providers, and ECCs, to achieve end-to-end native multimedia emergency services (MMES) and ensure interoperability, reliability, resilience, and robust security.
Finally, the session will cover the interoperability and integration of NG9-1-1 and public safety broadband networks (PSBNs), which are essential for advancing next-generation emergency services (NGES). By providing a solid foundation for NGES communications, NG9-1-1 and PSBNs will support innovative technologies and applications that provide new 9-1-1 capabilities and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of emergency response efforts.

Takeaway

The session will cover the following key points:
1. The network architecture requirements for 4G/5G mobile broadband and NG9-1-1 networks to support an end-to-end IP-based multimedia emergency services (MMES) communications system, ensuring interoperability, reliability, resilience, and robust security.
2. Understanding how NG9-1-1 and 4G/5G mobile broadband networks can be integrated to support innovative technologies and applications that provide new 9-1-1 capabilities.
3. The pivotal role of NG9-1-1 and PSBN networks as the foundation for next-generation emergency services response, providing rapid, reliable, and efficient assistance in all situations.
4. End-to-end requirements encompassing devices, 4G/5G mobile broadband networks, NG9-1-1 networks, emergency communication centers, and public safety applications to enable native MMES between citizens, public safety telecommunicators (PSTs), and first responders (FRs).
