Public safety dispatching is amid a paradigm shift on a national level. As ECC's are beginning to adapt NG911and shift from traditional analog to digital, public safety telecommunicators (PST's) are beginning to feel the information overload. The concepts behind NG911 and wireless public safety broadband systems have brought on the Voice-Video-Data Convergence (VVDC). The paradigm shift in PST will include the use of premise and cloud-based artificial intelligence (AI) systems to work through the mountains of VVDC. This session will explore the issues behind the paradigm shift and provide ideas for implementation by ECC's and various public safety agencies. Workplace environments as well as field first responder issues will be covered at a high level to allow CAPEX and OPEX planning. Various computer aided dispatch (CAD) protocols will be explored for future applications of VVDC. Interoperability of ECC"s and first responders will be touched on as it relates to the VVDC. This session will present the various AI types available and present type 2 as a current solution for ECC and first responder application. Real-world examples of the first stage of the PST paradigm shift will be presented.

Takeaway

1. Paradigm shift effects on PST
2. ECC and first responder technology issues
3. Examples of type 2 AI integration for PSC
