COVID-19 has put a spotlight on the steep challenges communities face obtaining the supplies, support, and overall relief they need to navigate the pandemic. Thanks to innovative drone technology, and cellular LTE and 5G connectivity, efforts to overcome these challenges are flying to new heights, literally.
This session will examine real-world examples of how Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) drone missions are being leveraged to deliver COVID-19 test kits and medical supplies to remote locations—like British Columbia's Penelakut Island—with help from drone company InDro Robotics and cellular networking-connectivity firm, Cradlepoint. Speakers will also highlight how beyond pandemic-related needs, public safety organizations are using drones to deliver critical supplies, like using drones to deliver defibrillators to reach victims faster than vehicles.
These drone missions, backed by cloud-based cellular connectivity, dramatically reduce what would be a traditionally lengthy and unreliable delivery processes—and in the case of Penelakut Island for example, a reduction from several hours to just minutes. Speakers will also touch on other examples related to healthcare and first responder use cases, and highlight how the advent of 5G is opening the door for drone-backed emergency response.
