Broward County is home to nearly 2 million people and is part of the 7th largest area in the Country. With the impending end-of-life of the County's legacy analog radio system, the County began the process of planning for a system replacement. However, the journey was anything but easy or predictable, and after two active shooter incidents at the Fort Lauderdale Airport and Marjorie Stoneman Douglas Highschool strained the legacy system, the pressure was on to deliver. Fast forward to 2021, and the County is operating on a new P25 system that is almost finished. This session will provide lessons learned from the Broward County project that can be applied to any agency faced with an upcoming radio system deployments.
