This is a multi-day course on Monday and Tuesday.
This training addresses recent code changes that include requirements needed to approve, design, build, and test procedures as spelled out in the recently updated International Fire Code (IFC) Section 510-2021 Emergency Responder Radio Coverage (ERRC) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1225-2022 code. This class incorporates specific discussions to ensure that the ERRCS is in compliance with the current standards.
This two-day course is for anyone interested in learning the fundamental theories, components, installation, maintenance and support of in-building Public Safety Distributed Antenna Systems. It also focuses on the application and optimization of active and passive BDAs used in today’s Public Safety DAS systems. Students completing this course will better understand how DAS systems function and why the design is critical to proper operation. Exposure to RF energy and related safety subjects will be addressed.
Discussions will include:
Antenna types, mounting techniques, propagation, gain and losses, decibels, pattern distortions, return loss, distance-to-fault, range, impedance matching, bandwidth, efficiency, power levels, types of BDA’s, selecting the correct components for optimal results, polarization, transmission line selection, fiber optic connectivity, antenna diversity, splitters, couplers, taps, lightning protection, donor antenna to distribution antenna isolation, FCC licensing requirements, commissioning, optimization, and troubleshooting, along with NFPA 1225-2022 and IFC 510-2021 Code Compliance.
Hands-on demonstrations will include:
Testing fundamentals, connectorization, reflectometers, RF wattmeters, calibration, determining problems, distance-to-fault measurements, system sweeps, spectrum analyzers, fiber optic test equipment, and specific tests required by the new code.
