Digital LMR systems have proven their reliability during recent floods Brazil. In March 2024, in the south of Espírito Santo state nearly 12 inches of rain in just 24 hours was recorded in places. Flooding resulted in numerous deaths as well as landslides, road closures and widespread homelessness, with the federal government declaring a state of emergency in these municipalities. The municipality of Mimoso do Sul was particularly hard hit, with the Muqui do Sul River bursting its banks and flooding the town and 18 deaths. The 15th Independent Company of the Military Police of Espírito Santo (PMES) reported losing 17 vehicles, 19 computers and numerous other property. Digital LMR equipment was subject to an immense amount of water and still worked afterwards. New radio equipment was provided as well.
