The World Games is organized with the support of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The IOC closely monitors the Commonwealth Games to help plan the evolution of sports programs and game operations. During the summer of 2022, two Tier 1 multi-sport events unfolded in cities named Birmingham. From July 7 to 17, Birmingham, Alabama, hosted over 3,000 athletes from over 100 countries at The World Games 2022. Shortly after, athletes from across 72 Commonwealth countries competed for the top honors in their sports at 15 venues in and around Birmingham, England. At IWCE, the experts behind the communications operations at these two significant multi-sport events will reflect on the planning and lessons learned in Alabama and England. Hear what it is like to be in the center of the action!
