Unverified notifications generated by alarm systems continue to plague the 911 and emergency response communities. More than 20 million alarms reach PSAPs/ECCs annually, adding to telecommunicators' burdens (and who already are overburdened). False alarms ultimately squander resources, put responders and citizens at unnecessary risk, and can create liability exposures. The Partnership for Priority Verified Alarm Response (PPVAR) and The Monitoring Association (TMA) have worked to develop a standards-based system by utilizing the trove of data that security and alarm systems generate to score alarm notifications as a way of triaging them.
This standard is a revolutionary shift in standardizing how alarms are classified by monitoring centers and improving how they are classified and transmitted to ECCs. ECCs are able to provide first responders with a quantifiable event rating and detailed information prior to arrival on the scene, providing greater efficiency and situational awareness. This session brings attendees up to date on how the process will work and how it will aid the alarm response process.
